I managed to cord a tire on my Miata and the other three are pretty darn close to that point as well. Inside edges thanks to my aggressive alignment. I am concerned about my alignment being too tire hungry since I am not planning on tracking the car any time soon. But that is laters problem.
I have been waffling for days trying to figure out which tires to order. I had been between the Dunlop DZ 102 and the Falken 615k+. Both are very different tires so its kind of an odd comparison. But I have owned both and liked them for different reasons. In the end I pulled the trigger on the Falkens due to an $80 flash sale Discount Tire Direct was offering. That was about the original price difference that had me considering saving money and compromising on a way worse tire.
I love how cheap good tires for a miata are. Nice when you dont need 18 + inch low profile tires like on modern cars.
I had these on the Subaru before and enjoyed them for canyon carving. Time to see how they do on the Miata. I got about 15k miles on the Subaru before they went bald which is more than acceptable for the Miata.

I had these on my scion last year. They’re a good non-extreme 200TW option. Not the best grip, but really good wear.

OEM standard equipment. Same with the gold wheels. Non-car people that notice those things are always perplexed that a car came from the factory like that.

Exactly. I have a set of Toyo RRs for actual non-road use. But I live on a canyon and have the miata set up for the track. I just needed an excuse to toss the tires that came with the car. It will be an immediate difference replacing the Nankang all seasons of unknown history. Only unfortunate part is that the wheels on the car currently are 16 inchers, which would have given me almost no tire choices. But Ive got stock 15s on the other miata as well as 15s as my track wheels. Either of those can have tires unmounted for now since neither will get used any time within the rest of the year.

I was debating so much for my Miata that is just binned for next year. New upgraded radiator, first set of re- 71r’s, maybe a roll bar, my own helmet instead of loaners. Now I can put that off, get another season from pads and rotors, and either save on a older cert or get a new 2020 cert for the helmet.

Having a good radiator is worth it for the peace of mind all the time! I love the Supermiata cross flow I have. I have yet to test it out on track or at an autocross but it seems to work well and at least looks the business in my engine bay lol. Same goes for the set of new rotors and track pads I have sitting on a shelf. That was kind of a poor purchase since they are not in use but its ready whenever I get an engine in the car some day..

It’s that one or the flyin Miata one. They’re essentially equivalent, but ive had nothing but good experiences with FM. Sup ermiata has come across, I don’t know, less well in some forums I think. But they know their stuff, for sure.

Yeah I forget why I chose one over the other. But it was really splitting hairs to find any differences. It probably came down to price/speed of shipping since supermiata is local here in Socal. I've got the fm coils and sway bar so I'm definitely a fan of them too!

So, I gotta ask... with a Cali address doesn’t the site automatically re-direct you to the America’s Tire site? Or, will they let you ship to Malibu from the DTC site in AZ?
We got a store (finally. It’s in Goleta) nearby so I hardly ever use the website anymore...

I find for whatever reason the pricing and availability on americas tire website are often VASTLY different from Discount Tire Direct. And if Im just shipping to home its not like it really makes a difference where I order from. I believe they actually operate as separate entities or whatever. If I go to Discounttire.com it will redirect me to americas tire though. Im planning to have them installed elsewhere probably so it didnt really occur to me to go to americas tire’s site at all. The $80 discount was what finally sold me versus tirerack anyways.
